We are saddened to learn of the passing of Raymond Wielgos, the longest standing commissioner for the Community Park District. Raymond served on the board for 20 years. From 1987-2007, his dedicated volunteerism and leadership helped shape the recreational opportunities and community amenities now available to the residents of La Grange Park.
Raymond was instrumental in the construction of the La Grange Park Trail Bridge, improving pedestrian access to the Salt Creek Trail at Brainard Avenue. He was a member of the board from the conceptualization of the Community Park District Recreation Center all the way through financing, construction and dedication. He is also well known for his leadership tireless work with the community to make the La Grange Park Veteran’s Memorial a reality.
